Santa Clara University Ethics Building

Client: Santa Clara University
Project: Communications, Public Policy and Ethics Building
Project Cost: $12,200,000
Building Area: 40,000 square feet
Gordon-Prill's Scope of Work: responsible for the overall project including the selection of the project architect. This project was built under our design led agreement with SCU.

Design features included

  • A two story building with a mission style veranda facing the campus entrance and a contemporary two story glass atrium on the opposite side.
  • A bell tower created to camouflage the prominently located television studio which required high windowless walls.
  • The television studio's curved walls and covered floor wall connections give the illusion of space as well as outstanding acoustic characteristics.
  • The building's HVAC equipment is controlled by a digital system that is linked to the campus building automation system.
  • Every office and classroom is connected to the university's information technology system for high speed data and to the campus wide television network.
  • A teleconferencing room links students to other schools world wide.
Despite delays caused by an extensive archeological survey, and unusually rainy California winter weather, under Gordon-Prill management the project was delivered on schedule.
